Nancy Lee Sotka

Nancy Lee Sotka passed away surrounded by her family on December 10, 2017.  Born June 9, 1944, Nancy lived her earlier years in Chicago, IL where she met her sweetie and the love of her life Bill (William) Sotka.  Nancy and Bill married March 5, 1963 in Chicago, began their family and made many wonderful friends. After several married years, they relocated to Porterfield, continued their family and grew many more close friendships. Nancy and Bill lived out their lives in the very same big white house so many have known and created countless memories in.
Nancy raised and is survived by seven children: Tina (Harold) Ward, Laura (James) Kirchberg, Ginger, Bill (Becky) Sotka, Cory (special friend Heather) Sotka, Dana (Mike Litersky) Sotka, Darcy (John) Birchfield. Nancy is further survived by (and possibly most famously known by as Nana to) fifteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving: brother Paul McIntire and brother-in-law Gerald (Jean) Sotka many nieces and nephews. Nancy would be remiss if her very best and special friends were not included as part of her huge family: Bob Schwartz, Carol Delaet, DeeDee Kostuch, Jan White, Diane (Mrs. B) Benning and especially Marty Hayes.
Nancy was a very hard working and dedicated woman. Family and tradition was what was most important to her.  Every family holiday, life event or celebration was likely started or finished in her home with her preparing meals for all.  Nancy was a painter by trade but her personal enjoyment was through her catering special occasions for others.  Much like meals and preparation for her family, it was her honor to have started countless couple’s lives together with her famous chicken and tips dinner for their wedding.
Nancy was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years Bill (William), her parents Lorraine and Harold, grand-daughter Sarah, close friend Diane, mother and father in-law, brothers and sisters in law, nieces and a nephew.
Nancy was so special to many people and her entire family is nothing short of broken hearted. It is with the understanding she will be reunited in Heaven with her sweetie and those she has missed so much, our hearts should feel comfort.
Visitation will be held Thursday, Dec. 14, at Berth & Rosenthal Funeral Home from 4:00 to 7:30 pm with a parish wake service at 7:30 pm.
A funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Crivitz.  Nancy will be laid to rest at Glenwood Memorial Gardens Marinette.
Our family would also like to thank Dr. Mark Reidy and the entire ICU staff of Aurora BayCare Green Bay for their kind and compassionate care of our mother.
