Wesley "Wes" L. Henry

Wesley "Wes" L. Henry, 85, of Peshtigo, completed his life on earth July 26, 2018.  Born in Norway, Michigan on August 07, 1932 son of the late Gertrude Charlotte (Tuninstra) (1897-1995) and Rubin Wesley Henry (1896-1995), he graduated from Crivitz High School in 1950.
He served in the United States Air Force from 1952-1956, as a Security Radio Operator with the Strategic Air Command.
Wes married Kathleen Mary Kriedeman on June 17, 1961.  They are proud parents of Tyler Lee (Bobbi) Henry; and Grandparents of Oscar Wes Lee Henry and Everleigh Gene Henry; Also survived by a sister, Marjorie Knutson; nieces and nephews; his extended family, the Myleners, Terry, Bruce, Brian, Gene, Jody and Lee; and his neighbors on Brown Avenue, Peshtigo.
Along with his parents, Wes was preceded in death by a sister, Jean and a brother, Ronald.
Wes was employed as an Analyst by Unit Structures Inc. manufacture of Structurally Glued Laminated Wood Timbers, Peshtigo.  Unit became Koppers Co., and later became Sentinel Structures Inc.  Wes also was an employee of Enterprise Engineering Inc. in Peshtigo.
For the community of Peshtigo, he designed the Peshtigo Fire Centennial Seal,   was a Peshtigo City Council 2nd ward alderman for fourteen  years, a member of the Lions Club for eleven years, a past Peshtigo Explorer Scout Post 54 adult leader, a former member of the Peshtigo Board of Appeals, and a former member of the Peshtigo Advisory and Planning Commission.
He was a member of the Swedish Methodist Church, Norway, Michigan, past board member, president and treasurer of the First United Church of Christ, Porterfield and presently a faithful member of the Peace United Church of Christ, Marinette.
Wes loved to ski and enjoyed many days of skiing in Alaska, and out west in Colorado, Utah, Montana and especially Jackson Hole, Wyoming.  He was an active member of the National Ski Patrol for ten years, patrolling at many Midwest areas.
His hobbies were canoeing, back packing, hiking and fly-fishing in the mountains of Wyoming and Montana, sketching and painting, photography, skiing downhill locally and out west, and cross-country skiing.  He very much enjoyed his rustic log cabin in the woods especially with his hunting companions, his son and the Myleners.
He was proud of his Swedish heritage, his father's parents came to our country from Sweden, Victor Henriksson and Ida Andersdotter.  Wes's mother's father Hylke Tuninstra came from the Netherlands.
Wes was an honest man, God fearing, hard worker, loved his wife Kathy and son Tyler, Tyler's family and the Myleners.  He tried to treat others as he wished to be treated.
Visitation will be held Friday, August 3, at the Peace United Church of Christ (933 Elizabeth Ave., Marinette) from 9:00 am until time of services at Noon with Pastor Linda Forray officiating.  Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Peshtigo.  Berth & Rosenthal Funeral Home assisting the family.
